The way they give tributes to the original SDF Macross takes the nostalgia of the older fans, throws it into a new atmosphere, then puts it in its own story to create a new idea. So far, I can say that I'm happy with the pace of the story. I'd be more upset, if it was just all about robots fighting. The character growth seems to point that although there are tributes around of its original, the characters are not rehashes of the original.
The way they've made the Vajra as mysterious aliens is great. We don't know all about them, and not knowing it all about everything is what helps the anticipation. For a series, the
CG meshed with the 2D is fantastic. This series is probably going to make new fans for Macross, and probably make quite a few people wonder why HG cut so many corners on what was supposed to be their big coming out release. See, it's things like this that make me not miss rt.com, and all the lackluster excuses they and their uber fans give for their inefficiencies.
Deculture!!!
