| Flower of Life | Alien plant species originating from the planet Optera. Primarily used as a food staple for the native Invid species, it was stolen by the Robotech Masters due to its being the sole source for the energy source known as protoculture. Originally thought to be able to grow only on Optera, it was later found to be able to grow on Earth. The Invid invasion of Earth triggered the Third Robotech War. |
| Fold Drives | System developed by the race of Protocultures in the field of space travel. Causes a small curtain in the galaxy to open that leads into Hyperspace where distance is shorter. |
| GERWALK | Ground Effective Reinforcement of Winged Armament with Locomotive Knee joint. Also known a Guardian mode in Robotech. It is the intermediary mecha configuarion between battloid and fighter. |
| Guardian | The mode between Battoid and Fighter modes of a Veritech Mecha. |
| MAC | Mobile Assault Cannon; a series of massive battleship-like mecha used by the human RDF and REF forces. |
| Macross Island | Island in the Pacific where the alien spaceship craches on. Humanity rebuilds the spaceship and name it Super Dimensional Fortress One (SDF-1). |
| Manga | In English, generally used to mean Japanese comic books. Occasionally also used (even by the Japanese) to refer to animation (as in Manga Video). Pronounced: "mahn-ga".

| Mecha | Comes from the Japanese word for mechanical, meka, which in turn came from English. It usually shows up in the credits of anime as "Mecha design", being the folks who design the look of the mechanical stuff in that anime. Among American anime fans, it is usually used a little more specifically to refer to the big robots that are so common in anime, but it can also be used to mean mechanical stuff in general (including cars, spaceships, and giant robots as well). Mecha - pronounced 'meh ka', like the place. |
